In Memory of George L. Roach

New York Elder Law Attorney

George L. Roach brings his unparalleled 30 years of experience as Chief Attorney of the Senior Division of Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County’s Senior Division to the firm. He practices exclusively in the field of Elder law. In addition to his position as Senior Attorney with the firm, he teaches Elder law at St John’s University, School of Law.

Mr. Roach has lectured extensively in the area of Elder Law, and is the attomey solely responsible for giving the Annual Elder law update class to attorneys for the Suffolk Academy of Law, the educational arm of the Suffolk County Bar Association.

Mr. Roach is a former President of the Suffolk County Bar Association and a former Dean of the Suffolk Academy of Law. He held the position of Chief Attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County, Senior Division from 1979 to 2009. He is a former chair of both the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Elder Law Committee and Federal Courts Committee, and is a current member of the New York State Bar Association – Elder Law Section.

A 1976 graduate of St John’s University, School of law, Mr. Roach was honored by the school as its 2010 Inaugural recipient of the St John’s University, School of Law Public Service Award.

Mr. Roach has been published in Newsday, the New York State Bar Elder Law newsletter, and Suffolk Lawyer. He has conducted numerous continuing legal education seminars for other attorneys for the New York State Bar Association, the Suffolk County Bar Association, and the National Business Institute and has given public service informational programs for senior citizens, including Senior Law Day, sponsored by NYS Assemblyman Englebright (4th L.D.), Stony Brook University and the Suffolk County Bar Association.

Mr. Roach is admitted to the practice of law in New York State and in the State of Hawaii.
